CEO of the Security Industry Authority (SIA), has launched a new
initiative designed to promote both the responsible buying of security
and the SIA’s own Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS). Clamp and the SIA
want to persuade purchasers to buy security on quality, not just on
price. With this in mind, a new SIA leaflet entitled ‘Do You Buy
Security?: The Regulator’s Guide to Buying Private Security’ has been
produced in support of the initiative.

Police forces appear to be struggling to stem the tide of ‘genuine increases’ in crime. Figures published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS)
show that police-recorded crime has risen by 13% in the last 12 months with huge increases in violent crime (up by 19%), sexual offenses (up 19%) and police-recorded theft (which has escalated by 11%).
